TitleOctober 10: the nutcracker in the Noordoostpolder
There are several nutcrackers in the Netherlands this autumn, which is unusual. In Rutten in the Noordoostpolder, one has already been in a small villa neighborhood for a few days, so we decide to give it a try. The bird doesn't show itself at first, but eventually allows itself to be photographed well. The bird is not impressed by the group of photographers.

TitleOctober 19: Bird migration in the Netherlands
On waarneming.nl, I saw a number of species that I had never seen before and that had been showing themselves in one spot for several days. The first species I found was a small group of Lesser White-fronted Geese in the Oudeland van Strijen. Beautiful geese with a beautiful head and eye rings. At 53-66 cm, it is not a small bird, but it is a small version of the 65-78 cm large White-fronted Goose. The second was even easier: a Pygmy Cormorant in the Willeskop Nature Development Area (Polsbroekerdam). It involved walking through a muddy path for a bit, but the bird showed itself calmly from a great distance. The third was a Red-necked Goose, a fairly small, beautiful goose. Indeed, a distinctly red neck.

TitleOctober 25: The Northern Hawk Owl
The Northern Hawk Owl was discovered yesterday in Friesland. It is a bird of the far north, but in years with few lemmings, they search for mice and other prey in somewhat more southerly areas. The bird in Friesland is the fifth sighting in the past 100 years. Truly a rare bird in the Netherlands.
